Utilizing Dr. Dhesi's advanced training and education he is able to provide treatment and rehabilitation beyond the normal chiropractic visit. Highlighted below are some of the options available to his patients.
Manipulation Under Anesthesia with Fibrous Release Procedures
This is done primarily for chronic spinal pain due to disk disease, scar tissue development and muscular and joint adhesions. This can be done post surgical and pre surgical also. This procedure is also used for frozen shoulder, hip, knee, elbows, also. It has been around since the 1930’s done primarily by orthopedists and osteopaths, in the mid-1980’s, specialty trained chiropractors starting utilizing their knowledge of spinal and joint biomechanics to help patients with these various conditions. This procedure is done primarily for patients who have failed or have hit a plateau with conservative care. Dr. Dhesi was one of the first chiropractors in Northern California to get trained and do this procedure. He currently performs this procedure for selected patients at local centers. Extra Corporeal Shockwave Therapy
This is another procedure done under anesthesia at local centers. This procedure is done for various chronic conditions including: Lateral Epicondylitis [Tennis Elbow], Plantar Fasciitis [Foot / Arch Pain]. Off label uses Calcific Shoulder Tendonitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Heal Spurs, Medial Epicondylitis [Golfers Elbow]. Again this procedure is done once conservative care has been tried and either the patient as failed to respond or has reached a plateau.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
This technique utilized specialty hand held instruments to perform soft tissue procedures to increase circulation, relax tissue, and break up scar and adhesion in muscles and around joints. The most well known instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization techniques is Graston Technique. It is employed by many special trained practitioners on elite and amateur athletes, and by professional teams in providing accelerated rehab and support to their players.
Muscle Release Techniques
These techniques work with the soft tissue also to free up muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia adhesions and scar tissue that has built up secondary to repetitive over-use injuries, traumas, and deconditioning. This scaring and adhesions prevent normal muscular and joint activity and increase pain and dysfunction. The idea is to find out which and how these tissues are causing the dysfunction and correct them utilizing these techniques. The most well known of these type of techniques is Active Release Technique ™. It is utilized by many sports athletes and others to speed up functional improvement and stability of an injured area.
Acuscope / Myopulse Treatment
The Electro-Acuscope represents a dynamic concept in healing. Its high degree of effectiveness in pain relief and promotion of healing is based upon a series of electric and electromagnetic manipulations of the patient's tissues.
It treats by introducing a gentle current in waveforms similar to the body's own electrical currents. This increases the electrical activity of the affected tissue so that cells can begin the work of self repair. By using electrical current to help supply the inside of the cell with raw materials (amino acids and calcium) for synthesizing necessary proteins and to encourage the formation of ATP in order to provide the "power" for protein synthesis, one can then accelerate cellular repair.
The patient may feel a slight tingling but most feel nothing. Auricular points may cause a transient burning sensation. It is virtually painless treatment. The Acuscope is currently being used by professional athletic teams, sports medicine practices, hospitals, private physicians, psychologists, and therapists in every health care field throughout the world.
Kinesio Taping
As seen in the 2008 Summer Olympics and on multiple competitors of the US and others at the Tour de France, this technique is best known for its work with athletes. This is a specialty taping technique to help rehab and support injured, painful, or weak structures. It facilitates circulation, support and normal motion.
